Sandbox Environment

To facilitate testing, SSLMate operates a sandbox website at https://sandbox.sslmate.com. Purchases made on the sandbox website are free and certificates are signed by an untrusted testing certificate authority.

The sandbox website uses its own user account database, so you must sign up for a separate account on the sandbox site. Your sandbox API key is available on your account page on the sandbox site.

Client configuration (SSLMate 1.x)

To configure the sslmate client to use the sandbox, you must set the api_endpoint option to https://sandbox.sslmate.com/api/v2, as described on the configuration page. You may wish to create a separate configuration profile just for the sandbox.

Client configuration (SSLMate for SaaS)

To configure the sslmate client to use the sandbox, you must set the api_endpoint option to https://sandbox.sslmate.com/api/, as described in the sslmate and sslmate-agent.conf manuals.

Certificate approval

Certificates configured to use DNS or HTTP approval must be correctly approved just as they would be in production. Certificates configured to use email approval will be automatically approved.

The proxy server for HTTP approval is https://ACCOUNT_ID.http-approval.sandbox.sslmate.com, where ACCOUNT_ID is your sandbox account ID, listed on your account page on the sandbox site.
